This year we celebrate Camp Monterey’s 80th summer!
Camp Monterey is a residential camp for girls ages 7-17 in the heart of the Cumberland Mountains.
Camp Monterey was founded in 1945 by Miss Dollie Williams to give young girls an opportunity to live in an atmosphere of simplicity and love; to provide opportunities to learn new skills and improve the ones they already have; to make possible an awareness of our Creator through the beauty of nature; to encourage cooperation and teamwork; and to foster the belief that developing our God-given talents, helping others all we can, and making lasting friendships are the keys to a happy life. Camp Monterey along with our brother camp, Camp Country Lad, continues to be directed by the Williams family, along with dedicated and experienced Senior Staff.

About
Camp Monterey was founded in 1945 by Miss Dollie Williams to give her own daughters and their friends opportunities to develop leadership and outdoor skills in an atmosphere of kindness and fun. At Camp Monterey, girls make life long friends, share responsibilities, and learn how to live simply. Everyone who comes to Camp is welcomed as uniquely herself and encouraged to add her gifts to the summer, making it magical for us all! More on our Camp philosophy, founder and family leadership, location, and facilities are found here.

Camp Life
Camp Monterey offers girls an opportunity to live in nature and enjoy the unique benefits found in an all-girls environment. The girls live together in rustic cabins in the woods, have a choice of activities, and camp out under the stars. Girls are called to be attentive to God’s creation on display in the natural world around us. The girls become part of a natural mentoring program, being a member of a team and learning to lead by example. Information on a typical day, activities, friends, teams, special days, and Sundays can be found here.

Camp Sessions
A Camp Monterey summer is based on a six-week program. Two-week and four-week sessions are available for those not yet ready or available for the full six week session. A new camper might choose two or four weeks their first year, but as they grow, girls are encouraged to stay the full six weeks as we feel they will get the most out of a Monterey summer. A simple life in the out-of-doors, opportunity for leadership and the time spent with friends mean more to a girl the longer she stays. Session dates, tuition information, and Camp applications can be found here.

Parents
Learning independence, teamwork, and giving of yourself for the benefit of others is at the heart of all we do at Camp Monterey and will give your daughter a meaningful experience that she will carry with her through life. With more time at Camp Monterey, she will build confidence in her abilities, try new things and find ways to make life fuller for those around her. Information about Camp, what to bring, how to stay in touch, medical needs, and transportation can also be found here.

Staff
The Camp program is led by our experienced Sr. Staff, most of whom worked directly with our founder, Miss Dollie Williams. Our Counselors, who live in the cabins with the girls, are carefully chosen for their character, personality, and leadership abilities. Nearly all of our staff are former campers. They believe in and embody the ideals and values that they themselves found as campers and return to give that same experience they had as children back to others. More information, including how to apply, can be found here.

Alumnae
Since Camp’s founding in 1945, thousands of girls have learned the value of simple living and made lasting friendships at Camp. Camp Monterey’s Alumnae Association is open to anyone who has ever been a camper or staff member at Camp Monterey. It’s a great way to stay connected, join Alumnae events, support our Scholarship Program, join Mother/Daughter Weekends, or contribute to Monterey’s future by connecting girls or potential staff members with us who you believe would add to the fun! Alumnae news and events, as well as registration information, can be found here.
