Monterey is such a treasure. The camp offers the opportunity for all the girls to shine and feel successful!!! Monterey is a gem. A camp with a relaxed environment with team and individual competition helping each individual achieve goals and dreams. Not only does it build self- esteem, leadership but special character qualities that will help them in the future. –Natalie L., camper parent, Dallas, TX
The girls at Camp are my best friends. We have so much fun together and they help me become the person I want to be. They’ve turned Camp into a second home for me—I can’t imagine spending summers without them. –Anna, Junior Counselor 2011, Little Rock, AR
One of the best (gifts of Camp) would be realizing what is actually important in life…We refer to home as the “real world,” but frankly, Camp is so much more real. We learn how to be a friend, how to cooperate with each other, how to make amends; we learn the importance of a simple complement or a smile to brighten someone’s day; we learn patience, respect and how to be a leader. All of these are characteristics that are needed for a society to work well…”Next to heaven is Camp Monterey” because so much of how we live our lives here is like how people everywhere should live. At Camp, we love, we forgive, and we are full of joy–that’s the way life should be. –Jessica, Junior Counselor 2011, New Orleans, LA
For me, the best gift I have received (from Camp) is confidence. I have never been the most bold, but at Camp I know I always have the full support of my friends as well as instructors. This allowed me to try new things at Camp as well as at home. I would have missed many more opportunities at home for fear of failure if I had not gone to Camp. –Ruthie, Junior Counselor 2011, New Orleans, LA
Camp is special. There’s something calming and relaxing about being with nature and with girls your age who love you for you. Camp is a place where you can be yourself and don’t have to act or look like what you see in the media.                         –Julia, Junior Counselor 2011, Germantown, MD
The best gift I have received from my summers (at Camp) are, of course, the friends I have made and learning how to act as a role model by helping out and teaching younger girls new skills (that I learned from girls older than me.)                                       –Caroline, Junior Counselor 2011, Dallas, TX
I choose to come to Camp because we’re able to do so many different things as opposed to focusing on one specific thing like people often do at home or at school.                              –Mathilde, Junior Counselor 2011, Raleigh, NC
